Tea as Ritual | Summer 2026

A Six-Part Journey into Tea as a Living Practice

Tea as Ritual is an immersive series exploring tea as a lived, embodied practice rather than a performance. Guided by Adrienne Etkin, Tea Educator and Cultural Guide, this journey invites participants into a slower, more intentional relationship with tea, grounded in presence, humility, and care.

This summer cohort offers the full Tea as Ritual course in a condensed seasonal format. Across six weekly sessions and a culminating closing ceremony, participants move step by step: from establishing a personal tea practice, to deepening sensory awareness and discernment, to sharing tea as ritual within community.

At its essence, Tea as Ritual is about finding the sacred in the ordinary. Ritual here is lived rather than performed, cultivated through sincerity, repetition, and restraint. Each participant is invited to discover what feels true for them and to weave that understanding into daily life with depth and beauty.

A basic familiarity with true tea, Camellia sinensis, is recommended. For those who have not previously taken Two Leaves & a Bud, this foundational course is strongly encouraged. It will be offered in Early July.

PRACTICAL DETAILS

  • Missed Sessions
Key materials will be shared via email. When possible, make-ups can be arranged, and brief Zoom support may be available. One missed session is permitted per student. If two or more sessions are missed, supplemental make-up sessions may be offered for an additional fee.

  • Commitment
This is a live, immersive journey. Each session builds upon the last, and your presence is essential. Spaces are intentionally limited to ensure intimacy and depth.

  • CommuniTea Table Practice
As part of Tea as Ritual, each student will participate in the CommuniTea Table as a living practice. This is an opportunity to observe, assist, and gradually step into the role of holding tea in community. Each student will complete one CommuniTea Table practice shift, divided into two shorter segments over the course of the program. These will be scheduled across late March and April, allowing you to integrate what you’re learning in real time rather than all at once. This practice is not about performance; it is about presence. You’ll be supported throughout, with clear guidance on what is expected during each segment. Think of this as a bridge between learning tea as ritual and living it in shared space.

  • Connection
A private WhatsApp circle will be created for this cohort to support connection between sessions. This space is intended for sharing reflections, questions, and insights as your tea practice deepens. Upon completion of the course, you’ll be welcomed into the ongoing Tea as Ritual student circle, a living thread that connects past and present practitioners beyond this journey..

  • Practice & Integration
Tea as Ritual is both experiential and personal. After each session, you’ll be given simple practices to explore at home. These may include guided tea rituals, journaling prompts, or sensory awareness exercises. The intention is to integrate what you’re learning into daily life, so your practice becomes your own.

  • Discounts
From registration until April 22nd, each student receives: 15% off most teas, 10% off teaware, 15-20% off tea experiences (some exclusions apply)

  • CommuniTea Table & Liquid Meditation
Ongoing attendance during the course is encouraged. To support your practice, CommuniTea Table is specially priced at $15 per Wednesday or Sunday session, and Liquid Meditation at $25 for TAR students. Friday Lounge is available for study time with prior approval.

The Closing Ceremony | April 22
We will gather in ceremony to complete the journey. This evening, open to the public, will invite participants to embody and share what they’ve cultivated, celebrating tea as ritual and as a living Way. Ceremonies will be timed, and students are welcome to invite friends and family. This will be a event with limited seating; we will do our best to accommodate guests.
