TEA EXPERIENCE | The Art of Roasted Tea

  • Admari | Modern Tea Culture 223 NE 82nd Street Miami, Florida 33138 United States (map)

Join us for an exploration into one of tea's oldest transformations: fire.

This workshop moves beyond flavor alone and into the craft of roasting itself, how heat reshapes a leaf's character, why some teas are roasted and others aren't, and what that choice actually does to what ends up in your cup. Through guided tasting, we'll compare roasted and unroasted expressions side by side, building a working vocabulary for talking about roast the way we already talk about origin and oxidation.

What to Expect

  1. Understanding Roast
Learn how roasting differs from oxidation, and why the two are often confused.
Explore the range of roast levels, from a light warming pass to a deep charcoal roast, and what each does to aroma, sweetness, and body.
Taste teas roasted to different degrees side by side to feel the difference, not just hear about it.

  2. Fire as Technique
Learn traditional roasting methods, including charcoal roasting, and how they differ from modern equipment.
Understand why some teas are roasted once and others are roasted repeatedly over time.
Discuss how roast interacts with a tea's original character rather than simply covering it up.

  3. Building Your Palate
Develop a working vocabulary for describing roast: toasty, nutty, smoky, caramelized, charred.
Learn how roast affects caffeine and how that shapes when a tea is best enjoyed.
Leave with the confidence to choose a roasted tea that actually fits what you're looking for.

Fire doesn't hide a tea, it reveals a different side of it. Come taste the difference for yourself.

Reserve your spot today and discover what roasting really does to a leaf. Limited spots available; early registration is highly recommended.
