Admari Matcha | Ceremonial Grade, First Harvest Matcha

From the volcanic soils of Kagoshima Prefecture in southern Japan comes our premium 2025 Ceremonial Grade, First Harvest matcha, vivid, finely stone-milled, and crafted to embody both balance and depth. Kagoshima’s misty climate and fertile land nurture tea leaves of remarkable vibrancy, yielding a matcha that is both elegant and full of life.

This premium harvest is blended from three cultivars: Yabukita, Samidori, and Okumidori. Together they create a profile that is smooth and nuanced, Yabukita lending its bright green clarity, Samidori contributing body and sweetness, and Okumidori adding depth and aroma. The result is a matcha with fresh spring energy, gentle umami, and a lingering natural sweetness that reveals itself across every sip.

As with all true ceremonial-grade matcha, this tea is made from the first flush of tender spring buds, shaded before harvest to intensify chlorophyll and amino acids, then carefully stone-milled into an ultrafine powder. The shading process gives the tea its luminous color and layered flavor, while the first-harvest leaves ensure delicacy, brightness, and a clean finish.

We use the term ceremonial grade with care. It is not a regulated label, and anyone can put it on a package. For us, it means something specific: first harvest, shade-grown, stone-milled matcha of the highest quality form Japan. This is the matcha crafted for drinking straight from the bowl, as it has been for centuries. And while it shines in its purest form, its vibrancy and balance also translate beautifully into lattes and modern rituals.

Preparing This Matcha: Usucha & Koicha

This matcha may be prepared as usucha (thin tea), whisked into a light, frothy bowl that highlights its clarity and vibrancy. Or it may be prepared as koicha (thick tea), using more powder and gentler strokes, yielding a dense, velvety texture that emphasizes sweetness and umami. Both expressions reveal different sides of the same leaf, inviting you to explore matcha as both daily ritual and deep ceremony.

Our 2025 allocation is limited, and once it is gone, it will not return until the next spring harvest. This matcha is an invitation to step into presence: a green, luminous companion for everyday practice and for moments that call for something extraordinary.
